Today the nanny starts

While it's bittersweet, especially for C, the nanny came today to train. Despite being awake for nearly 3 hours, Coco met her with a big, big smile. And while Coco isn't terribly discerning about who she smiles for, it did both of us good to see her enjoy the company.

It's a new chapter, after having just started one. It's a harder chapter, a busier one. But an important one. C and I both had moms that worked, and it's good for a little girl to see her mom as an independent, successful role model. Now...that could have been achieved just as well if C had stayed home, but it's what we're telling ourselves as C heads back to work.

We're grateful that we both have great jobs and that we've found a great caretaker for Coco while we earn trips to Disney World, college funds and, of course, baby formula.

Let's just hope Coco doesn't give out all those smiles between 9 and 5.
